Paying for weight loss surgery

I want to lose weight. I've been struggling with this for a year or two. I've even considered consulting with a lapband doctor here in my area. In the course of doing my research, I found out my health insurance will cover the surgery as long as it's considered medically necessary and not a cosmetic procedure.

I'm not that overweight but I could get it covered. That seriously makes me think about it a little bit harder.
